08-25-06 - It's out with the old and in with the new for elementary school student in Ardmore. Friday morning, kids in first through fifth grades helped break ground on their new school, while celebrating the final year for Charles Evans Elementary.
Ardmore voters passed a sales tax a year ago to make phase one of the project possible. Next year every elementary age student will attend school in the same building, allowing them to learn in a similar environment equipped with the latest tools in education.
Charles Evans Elementary will be demolished next year to make room for phase two which includes a new gymnasium. The building was first built in the 1950's, and officials say the building is rundown and overcrowded.
