Grass Fire Destroys Four Barns

08-25-06 - A large grass fire burning off of Highway 82 near Spalding Road destoyed 8 barnss and threatened several homes. Some cars were damaged as well.

Over 600 acres of land were burned during the fire. Dozens of fire departments, including Grayson, Cooke, and Collin Counties. The Texas Forest Service was called in with bulldozers to move dirt to create firebreaks to help with putting out the fire.

Firefighters started fighting the blaze around 1:00 p.m. and the heat was felt as the Red Cross was there to assist in providing water for them.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
