Ardmore Seeking to Host Research Facility

08-25-06 - Michelin North America is Ardmore’s largest employer and now the city wants the company to take its influence one step further. Michelin operates technology all over the world and the city of Ardmore hopes to convince them to build their next research facility in Carter County.

It is an idea leaders at the development authority have been tossing around, but one they are determined to make happen. They hope to partner with the corporation and either OU or OSU to bring engineers and students to the area to research Michelin’s latest products. The ADA plans to use money from the tax increment district to get it off the ground.

They say the impact it will have on Ardmore’s economy is well worth it. Since the project is in the earliest stages, officials are not sure where the facility will be built or how many jobs it would create. Michelin puts 4% of its net sales back into research every year.
