08-25-06 - A busy summer for first responders in Bryan County, they may get a little easier around this time next year. A $0.50 tax added to wireless customer phone bills last February is bringing in some much-needed money.
Those funds will pay for a new communications system to pinpoint 911 calls from cell phones, which are calls that are difficult to trace. With a number of grass fires this summer, as well as increased accidents due to back to school traffic, first responders say a new system will help them quickly locate a 911 caller.
