8-26-06 – Ardmore hosted several WWE wrestling stars this weekend, including former University of Oklahoma All-American Wrestler – “Dr. Death.” Many fans will remember the nickname of the man who went on to football glory even after his years as a Sooner. Steve Williams toured the world becoming a household name for wrestling fans, but he came close to losing it all after a battle with throat cancer.
Three years ago, Williams was diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease. Radiation and chemotherapy treatment saved his life, but destroyed his vocal cords. Williams also working on a book, detailing his experience.
