BOSWELL, Okla. ― Residents of Boswell, Oklahoma, have been dealing with no showers, no drinking water, and no flushing toilets for nearly five days now.

Boswell water superintendent Isreal Beddo says an electrical problem caused the water outage. Beddo says the main well pump and the air compressor went out.

Since the system is run by air pressure, the city needs a new compressor to get water flowing again.

The National Guard has provided gallon jugs of water and water bottles for residents in the meantime.

Beddo says he hopes to have a new well pump installed by Tuesday, and water service restored by Tuesday night.

"Hopefully the system will be up and running and possibly have the water by in the morning, at least enough for people to brush their teeth and maybe start taking a shower. If everything goes well by tomorrow evening everyone should start having pretty decent water," Beddo says.
