A group of Ardmore residents touched by a local police department's attention to safety has made a generous donation. They gave $10,000 to buy new radar units for patrol cars.
The state of the art "Stalker" radar units that will be installed in four Dickson police cars in a couple of weeks.
Six people from Ardmore who drive highway 199 each day donated $10,000 to allow the department to have the same units used in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
John Sullivan was the driving force behind the gift. He survived an accident that killed a lone grove woman on highway 199 months ago, just one of six deadly wrecks this year.
The new radars allow police to detect the speed of targets coming toward them and behind them.
