08-31-06 - A Carter County mom accused of killing her 3-month-old son almost a year ago, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Thursday.
Twenty-year-old Laura Renteria is charged with first degree murder after authorities say she shook her son to death because he wouldn't stop crying back in October 2005. She was supposed to appear in court Thursday afternoon, but waived her rights.
Her next court appearance will be for formal arraignment where she could enter a plea. She's still in the Carter County jail on a $1million bond.
