09-05-06 - Two Denison men whose lives were changed forever in an accident last year will have to wait a little bit longer for justice. Jury selection was supposed to begin Tuesday morning for the trial of Timothy Whitmore.
Whitmore is accused of driving drunk and running a red light on Texoma Parkway in October 2005. Police say he plowed into the truck carrying 19-year-old Chase Ward and 22-year-old Justin McKenzie. They both suffered life-altering head and internal injuries in that accident and underwent months of rehab.
The District Attorney says the trial was delayed on the grounds of problems obtaining the medical reports and media publicity. Right now there is no date for when the trial will be rescheduled. Whitmore faces two counts of intoxicated assault and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He could receive a maximum of 40 years in prison.
