09-05-06 - There's a new face behind the walls of the Bryan County Jail and the county is hoping he will help move things in the right direction.
After spending about an hour behind closed doors Tuesday afternoon, the Jail Trust Authority came out of executive session and voted to hire T.R. Nelson, Jr.as the jail's interim co-administrator. He will be working alongside interim administrator Royce Bundrent.
Nelson is from Atoka County and spent 27 years with the Department of Corrections as a Captain at the McAlford Correctional Facility in Stringtown. After 7 years of retirement, Nelson says he's looking forward to getting the Bryan County Jail back on track.
Nelson starts next Monday and says his main focus will be instructing jailors and making sure everyone is following policies.
