09-14-06 - The 14th Annual Wilson N. Jones Texoma Scramble was held September 10th and 11th at Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center. One hundred and seventy-nine golfers participated in the two-day tournament benefiting the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center Foundation.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will be used to fund state of the art telemetry monitors for the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
To kick off this year’s tournament a Tee-Off Party was held on Saturday evening, September 9th at the beautiful home of Dr. DeAn Strobel and Dr. Winston Marshall. Guests were treated to a fabulous buffet catered by Tanglewood. The event included both a live and silent auction and paring of the teams.
On Monday after the tournament, Wes Shelton of American Bank presented the cash prizes to the first through fifth place teams. First place team consisted of Bob Buchanan, Curt Taylor, Ralph Hood, Ken Campbell, Darren Crum and Vince Jerome. Second place went to Louis Welch, Tommy Ellis, Van Price, Jim Hall, Ben Ellis and John Ellis, Jr. Third place team consisted of Wendell Williams, Eddie Brown, Danny Laird, Bob Carlisle, and Brian Gary. Fourth place went to Roger Townsend, Butch Jackson, Dennis Polk, Gary Yost, Bob Jarvis and Tom Ailshire. The fifth place team was Lance Jones, Linda Buckingham, Chris Richardson, Guy Goosen, Greg Kirkpatrick, and Melvin Camp.
Roy Franks took first place in the Team Bonner Shoot-Out landing 13 feet 8 inches from the pin on Hole #9. Roy has his choice of the use of a Chevrolet Equinox for one year or 12,000 miles courtesy of Team Bonner Chevrolet Cadillac, or a cash equivalent of $3,000. Brent Reed was second in the Team Bonner Shoot-Out, and Darold Adami was third with each winning cash prizes donated by Team Bonner.
Todd Walker was the Overall Closest-To-The-Pin winner for the two-day event with a drive that landed 1 foot and 7 inches from the pin on Hole #12 on Sunday. Kevin Shaughnessy presented Todd with a Cruise for two courtesy of McKesson Provider Technologies.

Hole # 12 – Todd Walker, first; Butch Jackson, second; and Betty Mitchell, third
Hole # 14 – Bryan Fletcher, first; Bob Stoolfire, second; and Larry Marr and Dee Norton, tied for third

Over sixty volunteers helped throughout the tournament with parking lot shuttle, bag drop, registration, replenishing beverages, measuring distances for Closest-To-The-Pin and Shoot-Out qualifying.
The Wilson N. Jones Foundation was founded in 1990 to promote community understanding and to secure financial support for the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. The Foundation is responsible for coordinating all fundraising activities, grants, managing and disbursing funds and conducting special events to enhance the image of the hospital.
