PURCELL, Okla. (AP) - Prosecutors are planning to seek the death penalty for a Purcell man accused of killing a 10-year-old girl as part of a cannibalistic plot.
Kevin Ray Underwood was arraigned today in McClain County District Court on a first-degree murder charge in the April death of Jamie Rose Bolin.
Jamie was reported missing April 12th after failing to return home from a trip to the library. Her nude body was found inside a plastic tub in Underwood's bedroom closet two days later after Underwood let police search his apartment.
An autopsy determined she had been hit in the head, her neck cut from ear-to-ear and she was sexually assaulted.
A tentative trial date of May seventh was set for Underwood.
