9-20-06 - A football landmark in Ardmore is in its last days. Walker Stadium was the home of Ardmore football for 60 years, but on Wednesday, Mayor John Moore signed off on a demolition agreement to tear it down.
The Greater Southwest Historical Society owns the property, as is getting help from the city to bring down the stadium.
Built in 1936 through the WPA, the stadium was declared unsafe in 1997.
The demolition process will begin within the next 30 days. In the stadium's place, the historical society hopes to build a larger museum to attract more tourists.
