Ardmore Turns Waste Into Compost

The city of Ardmore is turning waste into money. Using bio-solids left behind at the water treatment plant, the city is turning it into compost, to be sold to farmers and gardeners.

The city built a $3 million compost center to turn the sludge into topsoil. It started operating this week.

Soon, farmers and gardeners will be able to purchase the compost, helping the city cash in on its investment.

The center was modeled after a facility in North Carolina and is the only one in the state.
