WOODBINE, TX -- Some Callisburg Elementary students got a unique opportunity Thursday night. Advances in technology allowed a group of 5th graders to interact with students on the other side of the world.

Kesanuma, Japan, meet Callisburg, Texas.

Thanks to the wonder of video conferencing, these Callisburg 5th graders and these Japanese 5th graders taught each other a new recipe.

The Japanese students learned how to make pecan pie, a Texas classic, while the Japanese students explained how to prepare sushi.

But while most of the session was spent on explaining to each other what was different, there were some interests that crossed oceans.

Principal Rusty Clark says learning that there are similarities shouldn't be overlooked.

A society that these kids will be stepping into, before they know it.
