A Denison man has been arrested today in an investigation of suspicious powder that was mailed to a federal office in Sherman.
US Attorney Matt Orwig says the F-B-I arrested John David
Browning in connection with last week's hoax.
In a media statement, Orwig said the substance was baking
soda and that Browning has acknowledged putting it in an
envelope.
Orwig says Browning was arrested on a complaint of mailing a
threatening communication.
The prosecutor also says investigators aren't sure what prompted
the incident.
One Grand Centre was shut down last
Tuesday after a federal employee opened the envelope.
The building reopened Wednesday after preliminary tests found
the substance was non-toxic.
Orwig says people who attempt such hoaxes need to know they'll
be prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the law.
