The Wilson Police Department has a new chief. The city council appointed former assistant chief Felix Hernandez to the post on Thursday night.
He replaces Larry Stearns, who resigned two weeks ago because of health problems.
Hernandez inherits a department that is being investigated for missing money that was earmarked for the reserve officers.
The district attorney says the investigation is taking longer than he thought but should wrap up in a couple of weeks.
