WAURIKA, Okla. ― It's been three months since a deadly house fire in Ringling, but authorities made an arrest Wednesday. Two young girls and one man were killed in that blaze. Now the girls' mother is facing charges. Shelby Levins broke the story in January and has the latest development.
Fourteen-year-old Megan Fraiser and 12-year-old Kalee Fraiser were killed on January 5, when an early morning fire gutted their home in Ringling. The fire was eventually ruled accidental, but now the girls' mother is behind bars.
Nichola Fraiser, 32, was arrested by agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation around 2 p.m. Wednesday. She was picked up at the parole office in Waurika. Fraiser faces two charges― endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine and child endangerment.
Both charges stem from the O.S.B.I.'s investigation into the deadly fire that killed her two girls and another man and destroyed her home. The State Fire Marshal's Office ruled the cause of the fire accidental, but investigators don't believe Fraiser was without blame.
"Evidence taken from the scene of the fire leads us to believe that a meth lab was either being used or was about to be used inside that home before it caught fire. That’s the reason behind these two charges, the endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine and child neglect," Jessica Brown of the O.S.B.I. said.
Nicola Fraiser remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
