DENISON TX-- When the S.P.C.A. Along with a Grayson County Constable and a Denison animal control officer, arrived at the house around 11 this morning, they found six dogs.
Three of them tethered to a fence, with no food and almost no water.
"They took the steps this morning to attain a warrant come here and seize the dogs", said Maura Davies S.P.C.A of Texas.
According to the SPCA the owner of the animals had been notified about a complaint regarding the living condition of the animals, but had not fixed the problems.
"we tried to work with the owner to help them realize that the dogs did not have adequate food, water and shelter after working with them nothing had changed", said Davies.
That’s when thee S.P.C.A. Took the findings of their investigation to a county constable who agreed with the findings and obtained a warrant to seize the animals.
Denison vet Billy Martindale says that the lack of water is a real danger for dogs.
"Water is essential it’s just critical you know the hooter it gets the more critical it becomes", said Martindale.
The dogs were loaded into a vehicle and transported to the Perry animal care center in McKinney, where they are being examined by a medical staff and will be housed until a custody hearing is held.
"The spca is hoping custody is awarded to us if that happens we would evaluate the dogs individually for placement or adoption", said Davies.
Justice of the peace James Harris will now have to decide whether to allow the SPCA to keep the animals or return the dogs to the owner.
The custody hearing is scheduled for April 28th.
