GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- The mayor of Gunter wants the proposed Dallas Tollway to pass through his town. Mayor Mark Millar says the roadway could open near the Dorchester water tower in Gunter, but right now he says Collin and Denton county leaders are proposing other alignments that would create a different route for the toll road.

Millar hopes Grayson County Commissioners will work with him to solidify plans for a route through Grayson County, bringing the roadway and economic development to the Gunter area.

"It not only will bring more people, it will bring more industry, it will bring more commercial, it will bring more retail. If you go look at the toll road south and see the way it’s built between 289 and the toll road we expect that same building when it gets north of the county line into the city of Gunter," Millar said.

Millar says his next move is to present his plan to the city council.
