Arrest After Standoff in Lone Grove

10-24-06 - A Lone Grove man was captured Monday night after a short standoff with authorities.

Police arrested 36-year-old Rodney Stapleton around 10:45pm after receiving complants that neighbors saw him chasing his wife with a knife in the Brock trailer park in Lone Grove.

When police arrived he locked himself in his home with his rottweiler. It took about thirty minutes for negotiators to finally talk him out.

Police chief Robert Oldham says "Once they threw in a phone line he refused to answer the phone. But later, they made contact with him through the window and he gave himself up."

Stapleton's wife will be ok - suffering a few bumps and bruises. He faces several charges.
