12-1-03 - The flu may have taken two young lives in Cooke County. One year old Paige Adams died on Thanksgiving day in the emergency room at Gainesville’s hospital.

She fell ill last week, just a few days after getting the first half of her flu vaccine. Her funeral was today in Gainesville. Yesterday morning, two-month-old Paul Manuel Vargas also died. Health officials are waiting for autopsy results before they confirm if both children died from the flu, but the symptoms all point to the virus.

Health officials in all area counties are encouraging children and senior citizens to get the flu vaccine.
