12-1-03 - A local woman is thankful to be alive after staring down the barrel of a rifle during an armed robbery Monday.

It happened at a convenience store along I-35 near Davis. Police say two men and a woman entered the Sinclair station around 10am, armed with a .22 rifle, and demanded cash. Nancy Fulton was behind the register. They took her car keys, gasoline, and money, but then one of the robbers told her he was going to shoot her. Fulton began to pray and moments later heard the rifle fire three times.

The gunman ended up shooting a phone next to her. But the suspects didn’t get far. Police in Idabel, Oklahoma caught all four of them Monday afternoon. They are also suspected in an arson and burglary case in southeast Texas.
