Loy Lake Construction Update

10-25-06 - It's been three months since construction began on Loy Lake Road in Sherman. Now the city is reassuring citizens that despite the lack of visible progress, work is moving along.

Back in July the city began tearing up the street and knocking it down to one southbound lane. A utility contractor has been on the job, making room for storm and sanitary sewers and making sure no gas lines are in the way. He's about two weeks away from being done and that's when the paving contractor can get to work.

The concrete will be laid down at the beginning of December. It will remain a one-way southbound road during that process.

Additionally, the Woodmont development is doing their own reconstruction of the road to the city's specifications from Pecan Grove all the way to 75. When everything's done, Loy Lake should be a much smoother road to travel.

Right now the city engineers say they are on schedule and are aiming for a March completion date. The one thing they say could cause delays is where the weather keeps them from working.
