11-02-06 - There were some scary moments after a house in Sherman caught fire Wednesday night.
Officials say the blaze began around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night in the back bedroom of a home on South Charles Street.
Authorities say the smoke detectors did go off and both the adult and infant inside at the time managed to escape.
Chief Jeff Jones with the Sherman Fire Department says, “Smoke detectors went off so they were able to exit safely. If the smoke detectors Had not’t gone off this may have ended very differently."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
