The quest for flu shots created a traffic jam at the three Ardmore fire departments on Friday.
Two-thousand people rolled up their sleeves for flu shots at the health department's drive thru clinic. But the department only received 30 percent of the vaccine they ordered.
The response was so overwhelming they ran out at Central Fire Station before noon and wrapped up at Station Three about 2:30.
Members of the police and fire departments were on hand to direct traffic and students from Southern Oklahoma Technology center volunteered their time to administer shots.
Flu shots are available at the county clinic. They also plan more of these drive-thru events this season.
