11-07-06 - Freedom Aviation is training two Bryan County deputies to use a brand new helicopter that will be the only law enforcement helicopter based in the area.
The OH-58-C was donated to the sheriff's department two weeks ago. Two deputies are working to get their helicopter certification, and at least one of them already has his pilot’s license.
The Bryan County Sheriff’s Department says they want to develop a “regional air support unit” which is comprised of donor aircraft. They already have a Cessna single engine airplane.
Bryan County Officials say the aircraft are being maintained by volunteers and outside donations.
