Adolescents Blamed for Arson Fire

11-13-06 - Two adolescent boys are the only suspects in a weekend fire that destroyed a downtown Tishomingo business and damaged another. Police say a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy confessed to setting the fire at Houser Furniture Saturday morning after their request for a box was denied.

The fire spread to the Rose Petal, a clothing shop next door. Police also believe the kids tried to set fires in two other buildings. Houser’s lost more than $25,000 in merchandise, while the Rose Petal is still determining the amount of lost merchandise.

Both of the suspects have been placed in state custody.
