Local State Rep Named Majority Leader

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State House Speaker-elect Lance Cargill
today filled the House's top leadership posts for the coming
legislative session.

Cargill named Republican Representative Greg Piatt of district 48 as majority floor leader and reappointed Republican Chris Benge as chairman of the powerful Appropriations and Budget Committee.

The appointments were made one day before newly elected members
of the House and Senate are to be sworn in.

Their terms officially begin on the 15th day after the election
which will be next Wednesday.

Cargill also named Representative Rob Johnson as majority whip.
Last week he appointed Representative Gus Blackwell as House
president pro tem and Representative John Wright as caucus
