Disaster Assistance Possible for May Twister

The following is a public notice from Grayson County:

Grayson County has received notice from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs that the county is eligible for state funds available under the Home Investment Partnerships Program application for disaster relief housing assistance. The state funds are the result of County Judge Tim McGraw declaring a disaster in the county on May 10, 2006 after the tornado struck Grayson County on May 9, 2006.

The purpose of the home program is to provide assistance to home owners whose houses were damaged or destroyed during the tornado event. If Grayson County is a successful applicant, Grayson County will make loans or grants as appropriate to people whose houses were damaged or destroyed during the tornado. The grant program will be available only to the extremely low, very low and low income households. Applications for assistance will be accepted at 100 W. Houston, suite G-2, Sherman, TX 75092 thru December 8, 2006 either in person or by mail. The above location is accessible to the disabled. If for any reason you are not able to come to the above location, or mail an application, contact Grayson County and arrangements will be made to accept an application from you.

To see if you qualify for the grant, or if you have questions, you may contact the Grayson County planning department at 903.813.4247
