GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- A couple of nasty wrecks on U.S. Highway 377 this weekend have commuters in northern Grayson County a little uneasy.
"I drive kids around all day, and there've been a couple of accidents here lately," said Alyssa Etherington.
The most recent was a single car wreck near Sandusky Road. It happened around 5 p.m. Sunday. LifeStar flew the driver to Parkland Hospital, where she is now recovering.
But two days earlier, less than one mile away from that scene, a two car wreck killed an elderly couple from Whitesboro as they tried to turn west onto Reast Road.
TX-DOT spokesperson Kevin Harris says that his office looks into every accident that takes place, including the one that happened here at Highway 377 and Reast Road Friday night. In fact, he says he was out here this morning, wanting to see for himself if there was anything in particular with this road that may have factored in to that deadly accident Friday night.
While the road appears to be in compliance with basic requirements, drivers say this stretch of highway can be a little tricky to drive.
"It is, early in the morning. People speed through here quite often early in the morning when I go to work," said Jeff Mayo.
TX-DOT's investigation is in its preliminary stages, but initial indications are that there was nothing specific to the road itself that was part of cause of either of these horrible accidents.
