PADEN, OK -- A fight between an Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer and a paramedic is caught on tape.
This incident occured a couple of weeks ago, but only this weekend did the O.H.P. release this dash cam video. It shows Trooper Daniel Martin trying to arrest a Creek Nation paramedic in the middle of a patient transport.
The nearly 8 minute long video clip shows Trooper Martin screaming at the two paramedics. Also on two different occaisions, the lead paramedic, Maurice White, is shoved up against the ambulance by the trooper.
In fact at one point, Trooper Martin has his hand around White's neck as he holds him up against the ambulance.
This incident has sparked an internal investigation by the O.H.P., but a spokesman said Saturday that Trooper Martin is still on active duty.
"The Highway Patrol Officers, the troopers, are not being placed on any kind of administrative leave. If the investigation shows there were some violations of deptartment policy or procedure, we'll address those accordingly," said Capt. Chris West.
That dash cam video is attached to this story.
SUNDAY (6/14): An update to this story is that the O.H.P. has, in fact, placed Trooper Martin on paid administrative leave until the internal investigation has concluded.
