DPS Increases Patrols for Holidays

12-13-06 Texas State Troopers are keeping a close eye on the roadways this holiday season. Starting December 15, DPS will take part in a program called CARE.

CARE is short for Combined Accident Reduction Effort. Organizers say it's a national project to get people to drive safely during the holidays.
DPS will step up patrols and crack down on drunk driving, seat belt violations, and speeding.

Texas troopers say they handed out more than 26,000 traffic tickets over the holidays last year.
