Dickson Issues Traffic Refunds

12-19-06 The Oklahoma State Court of Appeals ruled the town of Dickson would have to pay back speeders who were fined more than 50 dollars between November 2002 and March 2005. The city has been flooded with calls from people wanting to know when their checks are coming. But, the more than 17 hundred drivers that stand to benefit could be waiting years before they ever see their money. Dickson trustees voted to appeal the decision. It started when a Sulphur doctor sued after he received a 398 dollar speeding ticket. The appellate court said the city did not properly change their laws. Dickson officials say they did, but the paperwork got lost at the courthouse.
