VALLEY VIEW, TX -- Two people are dead and several others were injured in a major accident on Interstate 35 on Sunday afternoon.
Texas DPS troopers say a semi truck rear-ended a 1996 Ford Explorer around 3 o'clock on I-35 north causing a chain reaction. A total of nine vehicles were involved.
Dale Hinkle, 63, was pronounced dead on scene. His grandson, 13 year-old Casey Hinkle from Fort Worth, who was a passenger in the car hit by the semi was flown to a hospital in Ft. Worth and pronounced dead later.
Eight others are still listed in serious condition at hospitals around the area.
DPS says that the semi-truck driver was released from the hospital. At this point--no charges have been filed. DPS says the investigation is ongoing.
