12-27-06 A Marshall County national guardsman enjoys family time after flying home from Afghanistan. He arrived home just days after his son entered the world prematurely.
Cameron Lee Johnson was scheduled to be born January 8th, but on December 14th his mom rushed to the hospital in Durant for an emergency C-section.
The baby tipped the scales at barely five pounds and was flown to a Dallas hospital. His dad Spc. Dustin Johnson joined him three days later. The baby gained enough strength to come home last week, but his dad will return to Afghanistan at the end of the month. He will complete his mission with the 1-180th out of Durant.
"I signed up six years ago to help people," Spc. Dustin Johnson said. "If I'm over there protecting my country, than that's what I'm going to do."
The 1-180th could be home as soon as May. Dustin's brother Jimmy is also serving overseas. He's expecting a baby in late February.
