TUSHKA, OK -- A major accident in Tushka just south of Atoka left one man dead Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the man was driving his semi south on Highway 69/75 when he crossed over into northbound traffic and clipped an on-coming pickup. He continued another 100 yards across a gas station parking lot, and finally slammed into a storage shed.

Witnesses say that the truck exploded and the fire reached dozens of feet into the air.

"[It was] like a bomb, I mean exactly like that...like a bomb going off. It was very loud. It seemed odd to me that a truck exploded like that, and it exploded from the front. The fuel tanks didn't explode. The truck itself exploded from the front or something. Very hot," eyewitness Allen Huddleston said.

Tushka Police are still investigating the accident and say that there doesn't seem to be any skid marks in the parking lot. They say that could mean the brakes might have failed on the vehicle or that the driver could have lost consciousness before veering off the road.
