A meeting was held Thursday in Ardmore to discuss a third bond issue to build phase two of the Ardmore Elementary School. . After talking with parents at a community meeting Monday night school board members got the feeling voters thought it would pass hands down and didn't make it out to cast their ballot. A second bond issue failed in December by about sixty-two votes.
They all say housing all 1,000 elementary school students in one building is an issue they are passionate about. They believe each child can get equal experiences.
Although many parents expressed desire to renovate old structures, school board president Nancy Porter says that is not a viable option.
"Our elementary schools were designed in a different era, limitations you just can't get around in those schools, unless you take property acquisition all the way around."
The special board meeting to discuss holding another election is taking place Thursday afternoon.
