Durant Police officials are still investigating a two car crash that happened around 7:15 Thursday night. They say a northbound driver on Highway 75 somehow lost control of the car, crossed over the median and hit the southbound car head-on.
Traffic on 75 was backed up for miles and OHP shut down the southbound lane for more than an hour.
Police say there were two passengers in each vehicle. One of the four is dead, and a three year old boy, critically injured. That child was flown by helicopter to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. He is in stable condition as of Friday.
Police say they see too many deadly crashes like these, and remind the public to be extra cautious when getting behind the wheel.
Sergeant Chris Marcy said, "This time of the day a lot of people are just getting off work. Their minds are preoccupied, they're in a hurry to get home. Make sure you slow down, take your time. Wear your seatbelt and get home safe."
OHP and an accident reconstruction team are investigating.
