Kevin McDonald, a former Wilson N. Jones employee has been found guilty on federal charges. The former director of clinical engineering of the Sherman hospital was sentenced to nearly five years in prison on charges of tax evasion, mail fraud, and money laundering.
Assistant U.S. attorney Andrew Stover says hospital administrators discovered McDonald was embezzling money in 1997 but never filed criminal charges.
Stover says McDonald set up phony companies in California and in Dallas, and he used similar methods at Wilson N. Jones.
Authorities say McDonald will also have to pay about $2 million in restitution.
