12-17-03 - A growing drug problem in Texoma could soon change the way some of you shop for allergy and cold medicine. One of the easiest ingredients used in making meth is also something many of you use every week. Pseudoephedrine is a main ingredient in cold and allergy medicines. Now state drug agents want to make the over the counter medicine harder to get. Right now, anyone can buy pseudoephedrine right off the shelves. But if law enforcement gets their way, a customer would have to get the medicine straight from the pharmacist and even have to sign for it. Authorities say meth is the number one drug problem in our area. State task force agents are asking the legislature to pass a pseudoephedrine bill next year. If it goes through, it could be in place by next summer.
