Mixed Holiday Results for Retailers

12-23-03 - With one full day of shopping left, plenty of local retailers say this has been an especially good year for business. At Mountain View Mall in Ardmore, merchants say sales are up and in some cases, they're running out of merchandise. The store manager of the Bath and Bodyworks says they've had people waiting in line before they open for the past couple of weeks. Although stores in Ardmore are doing well, business at the Gainesville Outlet Center has not been as good as years past. Most stores are saying their sales numbers are lower than last year's or they’re just breaking even. Those stores that are doing well credit it to good sales and a surge in the economy.
