On February 2nd, we usually tune in to check a particular animal's mood that morning to see exactly how long winter will last. That animal, of course, is the famous groundhog, right? Not here in Texoma.
Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville held its Second Annual Prairie Dog Day on Friday morning, adding a fun spin to the meaning of Groundhog Day. The Chamber of Commerce was invited to enjoy a breakfast and watch to see if "Red River Rye" saw her shadow.
She did not see her shadow, but snowflakes began to fall shortly there after. According to the prairie dog, Red River Rye, winter weather shouldn't last much longer.
