12-25-03 - A North Texas man is setting aside his own health so he can help others this Christmas. Eighty-three-year-old Hugh Stone put his dialysis treatment on hold so he could continue with his unofficial food bank in Celina.

Stone feared he might have to quit making his four weekly trips to the grocery store where he collects donations. He's run the bank out of his front yard for 12 years. But Stone is battling prostate cancer, kidney failure and emphysema.

Thanks to a story in the Dallas Morning News over Thanksgiving that reported Stone might have to give up his food bank due to health concerns, his donations are now up.

The World War Two veteran is known as the man who gives away food and money while his own home is in need of repairs and his medical bills keep coming.
