Emergency Landing in Gainesville

1-9-04 - It was a close call at the Gainesville Municipal airport Friday as a pilot was forced to land with no landing gear.

Police and firefighters were on standby as the single engine plane did a “bellyflop” landing on the runway around 1:15 p.m. The plane skidded several hundred feet but did not catch fire.

The pilot was not hurt.
