LINDALE, Texas (AP) - Six million dollars worth of cocaine-wrapped in diapers and hidden in four televisions- has been seized in East Texas.
A traffic stop near Lindale led to the arrest of 35-year-old Orlando Devis of Avondale, Arizona, and confiscation of 140 pounds of cocaine.
Devis is charged with possession of a controlled substance. He
faces up to life in prison if convicted. Devis is in the Smith County Jail on bond of two million dollars.
Deputy Constable Mark Waters was patrolling Interstate 20 on Sunday when he pulled over the truck and trailer for traffic violations. Waters noticed a strange smell coming from one TV and tampering marks. Inside were bricks of cocaine, with diapers used as a packing material.
Authorities believe the cocaine was bound for North Carolina.
