Captain Kangaroo Dies At 76

01-23-04 - He entertained children for decades. A man with a bushy mustache who talked to viewers through the camera and made his way into television history. Today Bob Keeshan or Captain Kangaroo lost his fight with life and died at the age of 76 in his Vermont home.
Keeshan's first T.V. appearance was as the horn-honking Clarabell the Clown on the "Howdy Doody Show". But it was his role on Captain Kangaroo that he was most known for. He debuted as Captain Kangaroo in 1955. The show aired a total of 36 years.
Keeshan suffered from a long illness.

Southeastern Spring Commencement set for May 11
