James Willeford, the so-called "I-35 Corridor Robber," appeared in a Carter County courtroom this morning to learn his fate. A jury convicted the 52-year-old Pauls Valley native of first degree burglary charges in October of 2006.
Today the judge sentenced Willeford to 20 years in prison. He will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
Police say Willeford burglarized convenient stores up and down Interstate 35 from Garvin County to the Texas border.
Willeford confessed to police. He said he committed the crimed to pay off a drug dealer threatening his family.
