Fire ban in Madill

The City of Madill enacted a fire ban effective immediately banning fires within city limits. Council members passed an ordinance making it illegal for residents to burn trash or leaves, or set off fireworks in town.

Residents are still allowed to use gas and charcoal grills for cooking.

Those who violate the ordinance are subject to fines.

City council members see it as a way to reduce grass fires in the area.
