SHERMAN, TX -- Residents in Sherman will soon see an increase on their trash bills. The city council voted to raise solid waste fees from $11.90 to $14.00, and to increase the commercial rate by about 10 percent.

The increase comes as the Texoma Solid Waste Authority has raised the rate it charges the city. The TSWA's rates increased last year to keep the waste authority's books in the black.

Sherman leaders also heard a proposal to increase trash services to residents. The new bulk trash program would work in concert with the existing brush pickup program.
